Go and Make Matthew 28:18-20 (NKJV) 18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. 2 things – Go and Make Go Moving in the revelation of our identity with Christ/Authority. Colossians 2:9-10 (TLB) 9 For in Christ there is all of God in a human body; 10 so you have everything when you have Christ, and you are filled with God through your union with Christ. He is the highest Ruler, with authority over every other power. If everything must be figured out first, there is no mobility. But, in the going there is showing of what and how to do the mission. We already have the authority, ability, and power through our unity with Jesus. He already has what is needed for the mission. Now, as we live and move and have our being in Him: When we go, He strengthens and gives direction. When we express, there is inspiration as His voice speaks through ours. When we touch, He is touching with anointing to break yokes of bondage. When we give, His provision is released to accomplish His purpose. Make Disciples Disciple – learner, follower, apprentice of a mission Jesus: Discovered who and what His mission was in scripture. Emulated what He saw His Father do in the Spirit. Walked in and demonstrated the goodness of God – drew people to Him. Lived as a servant. Fulfilled the Father’s mission - Replicated Himself in those who followed Him. Making of a disciple Reception of the Gospel/New birth Revelation of identity Walking in newness of Life/fulfilled promise Emulating what is seen in the Spirit Living as a servant Fulfilling the Father’s mission - replication Our part in making: Reception/New Birth Requires sharing the Gospel from a testimony of its truth. Romans 10:14 (TLB) 14 But how shall they ask him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? Mark 16:17-18 (TLB) 17 “And those who believe shall use my authority to cast out demons, and they shall speak new languages. 18 They will be able even to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them; and they will be able to place their hands on the sick and heal them.” Revelation of Identity Galatians 4:19 (NLT) 19 Oh, my dear children! I feel as if I’m going through labor pains for you again, and they will continue until Christ is fully developed in your lives. 2 Corinthians 3:18 (TPT) 18 We can all draw close to him with the veil removed from our faces. And with no veil we all become like mirrors who brightly reflect the glory of the Lord Jesus. We are being transfigured into his very image as we move from one brighter level of glory to another. And this glorious transfiguration comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. Walking in newness of life/fulfilled promise Romans 6:4 (TPT) 4 Sharing in his death by our baptism means that we were co-buried and entombed with him, so that when the Father’s glory raised Christ from the dead, we were also raised with him. We have been co-resurrected with him so that we could be empowered to walk in the freshness of new life. Emulating what is seen in the Spirit Romans 8:14 (TPT) 14 The mature children of God are those who are moved by the impulses of the Holy Spirit. Living as a servant. Luke 22:26 (TPT) 26 But this is not your calling. You will lead by a different model. The greatest one among you will live as one called to serve others without honor. The greatest honor and authority is reserved for the one who has a servant heart. Fulfilling the Father’s mission: 2 Corinthians 5:17-19 (TPT) 17 Now, if anyone is enfolded into Christ, he has become an entirely new creation. All that is related to the old order has vanished. Behold, everything is fresh and new. 18 And God has made all things new, and reconciled us to himself, and given us the ministry of reconciling others to God. 19 In other words, it was through the Anointed One that God was shepherding the world, not even keeping records of their transgressions, and he has entrusted to us the ministry of opening the door of reconciliation to God. Luke 22:31-32 (TPT) 31 “Peter, my dear friend, listen to what I’m about to tell you. Satan has demanded to come and sift you like wheat and test your faith. 32 But I have prayed for you, Peter, that you would stay faithful to me no matter what comes. Remember this: after you have turned back to me and have been restored, make it your life mission to strengthen the faith of your brothers.”
