Fellowship – Shared Moments There was a time when communication required being within earshot of another person or gathering. If you wanted to connect with someone who wasn’t present, you had to travel to where they were. Then came Alexander Graham Bell’s remarkable invention of the telephone, forever changing the way people communicate. Today, nearly everyone can connect instantly through voice or video without ever leaving home. Yet while the ways we communicate have multiplied, the reasons we communicate have largely settled into two broad categories: the call to get and the call to simply share. Many conversations are driven by a purpose—to obtain information, accomplish a task, solve a problem, or make a sale. Even when genuine friendship exists, the awareness that the conversation has an objective can keep the interaction from reaching a deeper level. But then there are the conversations with no agenda. They are not about getting anything from one another but simply enjoying one another’s company. In those unhurried moments, something far greater than an exchange of information takes place. Hearts become knit together through mutual appreciation, shared experiences, and genuine delight in one another. Fellowship grows not because something is accomplished, but because relationship itself is the purpose. This is the beauty of fellowship. It carries the implication that time together is valuable simply because we are together. It is relationship enjoyed without ulterior motive or hidden agenda. From these shared moments, hearts are bonded and lives become united for purposes much greater than personal gain. God’s invitation into relationship through Christ reflects this same truth. He is always the One we turn to for our needs, and He delights in providing for His children. Yet His desire reaches far beyond our requests. He calls us into fellowship with Himself—times of simply being with Him, without agenda, where our hearts become increasingly united with His. It is in these shared moments that we discover not only His heart, but also the deeper unity of purpose that comes from walking in fellowship with the Master. I want to live my life so close to him that he takes pleasure in my every prayer. Honor your father and mother.’” 21 The man replied, “I’ve obeyed all these commandments since I was young.” 22 When Jesus heard his answer, he said, “There is still one thing you haven’t done. Interacting/praying in the Spirit 1 Corinthians 14:14-15 (TPT) 14 For if I am praying in a tongue, my spirit is engaged in prayer but I have no clear understanding of what is being said. 15 So here’s what I’ve concluded. I will pray in the Spirit, but I will also pray with my mind engaged. I will sing rapturous praises in the Spirit, but I will also sing with my mind engaged. Sharing moments Acts 4:13 (NIV) 13 When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus. Overview: Fellowship with God Fellowship is the foundation – We approach God, partake of His presence, and become more like Him. True fellowship has no agenda – It is about relationship, not results; discovery, not acquiring. God desires hearts after Him – Like David, God seeks those who pursue His heart above all else (1 Samuel 13:14). His presence is the priority – One thing is necessary: to dwell with Him and delight in Him (Psalm 27:4; Luke 10:41–42). Jesus is worth more than possessions – Following Him requires valuing His presence above earthly gain (Luke 18:18–23). Abiding is continual – We live, move, and have our being in Him (Acts 17:28; John 15:4–5). Fellowship deepens through: A heart that longs for Him (Psalm 42:1–2) Praise that exalts His name and works (Psalm 111:2–4) Worship that tastes His goodness (Psalm 34:8–9) His Word that brings light and direction (Psalm 119:105) Prayer and communion in the Spirit (1 Corinthians 14:14–15) Fellowship produces transformation – Intimacy with God creates unity with His heart and aligns us with His purpose. Purpose flows from presence – As we abide, the Spirit leads us, directs our steps, and others recognize that we have been with Jesus (Isaiah 30:21; Romans 8:14; Acts 4:13). Prayer Father, Draw me into deeper fellowship with You. Help me to seek Your heart without an agenda, desiring Your presence more than Your promises and Your face more than Your hand. Teach me to abide in You continually, to delight in Your Word, worship Your goodness, and commune with You through Your Spirit. Shape my heart to become more like Yours. Let every moment with You transform me, align me with Your will, and prepare me for the purpose You have ordained. May my life reflect that I have been with Jesus, and may everything I do flow from intimacy with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Declarations I choose fellowship with God above every agenda. I approach His presence to know Him, not merely to receive from Him. My heart longs for God like a deer thirsts for water. I abide in Christ continually, and His life flows through me. I delight in God’s Word, and it lights my path. I worship because He is good and worthy of praise. I pray and commune with the Holy Spirit daily. As I remain in God’s presence, I become more like Him. The Holy Spirit leads me in the way I should go. My purpose is activated through intimacy with God. Others will recognize that I have been with Jesus. My life bears lasting fruit because I abide in Christ.
