Take A Seat

Walking

Galatians 5 – Living and walking in the Spirit – actions that validate and demonstrate an inner transformation.

Standing

Ephesians 6 – stand against the threats of the enemy with the weapons of the Spirit.

Sitting

  • The seat matches a position, role, or place of honor.
  • Based upon the arrangement, the seat carries a level of authority over certain other seats.
  • Predetermined and assigned, it needs no attaining or defending.
  • Judgments made according to authority based upon legal precedent without emotional sway.
  • A seat without a rendered judgment is ineffective and nominal.

From God – the setting with kings

Job 36:7 (AMPC) 7 He withdraws not His eyes from the righteous (the upright in right standing with God); but He sets them forever with kings upon the throne, and they are exalted.

From the seat – authority to rule in judgment

Daniel 7:9-10 (NKJV) 9 "I watched till thrones were put in place, And the Ancient of Days was seated; His garment was white as snow, And the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was a fiery flame, Its wheels a burning fire; 10 A fiery stream issued And came forth from before Him. A thousand thousands ministered to Him; Ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. The court was seated, And the books were opened.

Saints – to be seated as His court

Daniel 7:25-27 (NKJV) 25 He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, Shall persecute the saints of the Most High, And shall intend to change times and law. Then the saints shall be given into his hand For a time and times and half a time. 26 ‘But the court shall be seated, And they shall take away his dominion, To consume and destroy it forever. 27 Then the kingdom and dominion, And the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, Shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And all dominions shall serve and obey Him.’

In the seat Christ has taken, there is need for only one plea – the blood – no more sacrifice.

Hebrews 10:11-12 (NLT) 11 Under the old covenant, the priest stands and ministers before the altar day after day, offering the same sacrifices again and again, which can never take away sins. 12 But our High Priest offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand.

In Christ – made righteous – equipped to reign

Romans 5:17 (NKJV) 17 For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)

His seat – far above all other positions in supreme honor

Ephesians 1:19-23 (NLT) 19 I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power 20 that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. 21 Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come. 22 God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. 23 And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself.

Though unqualified in merit – seated right there in Christ by grace in authority

Ephesians 2:4-6 (NLT) 4 But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, 5 that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) 6 For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.

What happens in the seat

  1. Identity through union with Christ – rest in believing
  2. Knowledge of the Word
  3. Unction of wisdom by the Spirit
  4. Sentencing of ruling

By the Word and the Spirit – every counter is to be dealt with from our seat.

2 Corinthians 10:5 (TPT) 5 We can demolish every deceptive fantasy that opposes God and break through every arrogant attitude that is raised up in defiance of the true knowledge of God. We capture, like prisoners of war, every thought and insist that it bow in obedience to the Anointed One.

Without judgment the seat is dormant

1 Corinthians 6:2-3 (NKJV) 2 Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 3 Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?

To be in Him is more than walking and standing – it’s sitting/reigning with Him

Revelation 20:4 (TLB) 4 Then I saw thrones, and sitting on them were those who had been given the right to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony about Jesus, for proclaiming the Word of God, and who had not worshiped the Creature or his statue, nor accepted his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They had come to life again and now they reigned with Christ for a thousand years.

Jesus was seated – we go now as we’re seated together with Him

Matthew 28:18-20 (TLB) 18 He told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and earth. 19 Therefore go and make disciples in all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and then teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you; and be sure of this—that I am with you always, even to the end of the world.”
