Healing Ways

For the seemingly endless challenges to full-body health, there are a variety of remedies and approaches to recovery. Medical, natural, therapeutic, and surgical interventions each offer potential means of overcoming infirmity and restoring health. While one approach may prove particularly effective, there is often additional benefit in utilizing complementary methods. What has begun through one means may be further enhanced through another, contributing to a more complete and lasting recovery.

There is a rising of healing virtue on the wings of the Spirit. The passion of the Father’s heart is revealed in His desire to restore His children to wholeness, a desire demonstrated throughout Scripture in the many ways His healing power was manifested. Understanding His heart toward healing establishes a foundation of faith for receiving His provision. While prayer and the laying on of hands are familiar and widely practiced expressions of faith, Scripture reveals numerous other ways through which healing was imparted and received. Discovering these various avenues of divine healing can expand our expectation and strengthen our faith to receive all that has been provided for us in Christ.

Rather than placing limitations on how healing must come from an unlimited and all-powerful God, how much better it is to remain open and receptive to every means through which He may choose to manifest His provision. Faith is not confined to a particular method, but rests confidently in the One from whom all healing flows. The method may vary, but the Source remains the same.

Notes

Our Promise/Assurance - Healing

Exodus 15:26 (NLT) 26 He said, “If you will listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his sight, obeying his commands and keeping all his decrees, then I will not make you suffer any of the diseases I sent on the Egyptians; for I am the LORD who heals you.”

Exodus 23:25 (NLT) 25 “You must serve only the LORD your God. If you do, I will bless you with food and water, and I will protect you from illness.

Psalms 103:2 (NLT) 2 Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me.

Jeremiah 30:17 (NLT) 17 I will give you back your health and heal your wounds,” says the LORD. …

Jeremiah 33:6 (NLT) 6 “Nevertheless, the time will come when I will heal Jerusalem’s wounds and give it prosperity and true peace.

Jesus took all infirmity.

Matthew 8:16-17 (NLT) 16 That evening many demon-possessed people were brought to Jesus. He cast out the evil spirits with a simple command, and he healed all the sick. 17 This fulfilled the word of the Lord through the prophet Isaiah, who said, “He took our sicknesses and removed our diseases.”

12 Healing Ways from scripture

Laying on of hands

Luke 4:40-41 (NLT) 40 As the sun went down that evening, people throughout the village brought sick family members to Jesus. No matter what their diseases were, the touch of his hand healed every one. 41 Many were possessed by demons; and the demons came out at his command, shouting, “You are the Son of God!” But because they knew he was the Messiah, he rebuked them and refused to let them speak.

Luke 13:10-13 (NLT) 10 One Sabbath day as Jesus was teaching in a synagogue, 11 he saw a woman who had been crippled by an evil spirit. She had been bent double for eighteen years and was unable to stand up straight. 12 When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said, “Dear woman, you are healed of your sickness!” 13 Then he touched her, and instantly she could stand straight. How she praised God!

Prayer of faith

James 5:14-15 (NLT) 14 Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven.

Speaking to the condition

Acts 3:6-7 (NLT) 6 But Peter said, “I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!” 7 Then Peter took the lame man by the right hand and helped him up. And as he did, the man’s feet and ankles were instantly healed and strengthened.

Luke 4:38-39 (NLT) 38 After leaving the synagogue that day, Jesus went to Simon’s home, where he found Simon’s mother-in-law very sick with a high fever. “Please heal her,” everyone begged. 39 Standing at her bedside, he rebuked the fever, and it left her. And she got up at once and prepared a meal for them.

Acts 14:8-10 (NLT) 8 While they were at Lystra, Paul and Barnabas came upon a man with crippled feet. He had been that way from birth, so he had never walked. He was sitting 9 and listening as Paul preached. Looking straight at him, Paul realized he had faith to be healed. 10 So Paul called to him in a loud voice, “Stand up!” And the man jumped to his feet and started walking
