Healing Ways

There are remedies that will bring immediate relief, like an appendectomy or tooth extraction, but quite often there is a period of time in which the medication or infusion is expected to have its healing effect. Whether right away or over time, there is a transfer of power to heal through the hands of a physician or from medication. When the prescribed administration is applied, there is a transfer of potential restoration to an actual experience of it.

In Jesus’ ministry, while walking earth as a man, the resident potential to forgive and heal was only in need of an act of faith. The power to raise from death was even dependent on accessing something that was already there, but just in need of a transfer or flow of healing virtue. Jesus referred to this when He questioned who had “touched” Him. He had sensed this transfer of power by the lady with faith.

This provision of resurrection life is a demonstration of the Father’s passion that prompted the sending of Jesus. He desires for each of His human creations to be whole in mind, body, and soul. There is no need for persuading Him to do something He has already provided. There’s just a need for transfer, through the ways He provides, so the presence of healing will become the experience of it.

Notes

Psalms 107:20 (NLT) 20 He sent out his word and healed them, snatching them from the door of death.

Healing is a substance that affects its cure in administration and application.

Where the Word is spoken and the name of Jesus lifted high, healing virtue is abundantly available.

Ways

Through Touching an item

Mark 5:27-30 (NLT) 27 She had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him through the crowd and touched his robe. 28 For she thought to herself, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.” 29 Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she could feel in her body that she had been healed of her terrible condition. 30 Jesus realized at once that healing power had gone out from him, so he turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my robe?”

Acts 19:11-12 (NLT) 11 God gave Paul the power to perform unusual miracles. 12 When handkerchiefs or aprons that had merely touched his skin were placed on sick people, they were healed of their diseases, and evil spirits were expelled.

Acts 5:15 (NLT) 15 As a result of the apostles’ work, sick people were brought out into the streets on beds and mats so that Peter’s shadow might fall across some of them as he went by.

Gifts of the Spirit

1 Corinthians 12:7-11 (NLT) 7 A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. 8 To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. 9 The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. 10 He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. 11 It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.

Persistent Prayer

Luke 18:1-8 (NLT) 1 One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up. 2 “There was a judge in a certain city,” he said, “who neither feared God nor cared about people. 3 A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’ 4 The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people, 5 but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’” 6 Then the Lord said, “Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. 7 Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8 I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?”

1 Kings 18:41-45 (NLT) 41 Then Elijah said to Ahab, “Go get something to eat and drink, for I hear a mighty rainstorm coming!” 42 So Ahab went to eat and drink. But Elijah climbed to the top of Mount Carmel and bowed low to the ground and prayed with his face between his knees. 43 Then he said to his servant, “Go and look out toward the sea.” The servant went and looked, then returned to Elijah and said, “I didn’t see anything.” Seven times Elijah told him to go and look. 44 Finally the seventh time, his servant told him, “I saw a little cloud about the size of a man’s hand rising from the sea.” Then Elijah shouted, “Hurry to Ahab and tell him, ‘Climb into your chariot and go back home. If you don’t hurry, the rain will stop you!’” 45 And soon the sky was black with clouds. A heavy wind brought a terrific rainstorm, and Ahab left quickly for Jezreel.

Restoration over time

Mark 8:22-25 (NLT) 22 When they arrived at Bethsaida, some people brought a blind man to Jesus, and they begged him to touch the man and heal him. 23 Jesus took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village. Then, spitting on the man’s eyes, he laid his hands on him and asked, “Can you see anything now?” 24 The man looked around. “Yes,” he said, “I see people, but I can’t see them very clearly. They look like trees walking around.” 25 Then Jesus placed his hands on the man’s eyes again, and his eyes were opened. His sight was completely restored, and he could see everything clearly.

Luke 17:14 (NLT) 14 He looked at them and said, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed of their leprosy.

In the honor and fear of God is inevitable rising of healing virtue.

Malachi 4:2 (TLB) 2 “But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture.
