By Pastor Chad A. Miller, February 07, 2021

REFLECTION PASSAGE: Matthew 4:4

Sermon Summary: God often moves us from times of triumph and victory to places of trial and testing. He does so, so that we might learn that “man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD”

SCENE 1: Bitter Water Exodus 15:22-27

The bitter water was made sweet by the LORD.

SCENE 2: Bread From Heaven Exodus 16:1-36

The bread was:

  • 16:11-15
  • Sufficient 16:16-30
  • 16:31-36
  • Sanctifying Dueteronomy 8:2-3

SCENE 3: Water From The Rock Exodus 17:1-7

God tested them in the last 2 scenes, here they are God.

  1. God's provision. Ex 17:2
  2. QUESTION God's . Ex 17:3
  3. God's presence. Ex 17:7

LESSONS FROM THE SCENES:

  • Our Salvation sets us free. Our Sanctification shows others His glory.
  • COMPLAINING is cultivated more in our hearts that by our actual circumstances.
  • God provides for his people, giving us whatever we truly need. And since he is our all-sufficient provider, he himself is all we need.

CHRIST, OUR ROCK!

  1. Christ was struck with divine judgment! (Isaiah 53:5)
  2. Christ is life-giving water! (John 4:14)

See 1 Corinthians 10:4.

HE MAKES BITTER WATER SWEET; HE IS THE BREAD FROM HEAVEN; HE’S THE WELL THAT WILL NEVER RUN DRY!
