JESUS, OUR VICTORIOUS KING!

John 12:12-26

Summary: Jesus enters Jerusalem (Palm Sunday) as a Triumphant, Victorious King - even though He is headed for death. He reminds us that victory doesn't always look like we think it should.


The promise of a King from Isaiah.

1. THE KING'S COMING.

John 12:12-15

  • The of the people (John 12:12-15)

2. THE KING'S .

John 12:16-19

  • He has come to (John 12:23-24, 27-33)
  • He has come to people (John 12:20-22)

All true theology has an evangelistic thrust, and all true evangelism is theology in action. (J. I. Packer)

3. THE KING'S CALL.

John 12:24-26

  • bearing much fruit (Prov 11:30)
  • losing our lives (Gal 2:20)
  • hatred for sin (Rom 8:13-14)
  • serve Jesus (Rom 12:9-13)
  • follow Jesus (Mat 4:19)

Notice the payoff for responding to the call…(John 12:26; 14:3; 17:24; 2 Cor 5:8)
