David Bonnema Call to Worship Leader: Show us Your steadfast love, O Lord, and grant us Your salvation, that Your glory may dwell in our land. People: We will listen to what the Lord says, for God promises peace to those who are faithful servants, to those who turn to the Lord in their hearts. Leader: Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet, as they spring forth from the earth. Righteousness and peace will embrace, as they look down from heaven. People: We will listen to what the Lord says. We will turn to God in our hearts. Leader: Come, let us turn away from distracting thoughts and all that is required of us outside this sacred space. People: Let us turn to God, as we join our hearts and voices in worship. Prayer of Confession & Declaration of Forgiveness Heavenly Father, you have blessed us well beyond our needs. You show us Your love and compassion in ways that transcend our understanding. Yet when it is our turn to show that mercy, kindness, and generosity to one another, we falter. Sometimes we justify doing nothing at all. Forgive us, Lord, for all the times we did not live out Your example in our own lives. Amen. Sermon - “Making the Pleasant Land Desolate” Introduction to Offering Offertory Anthem - “Fly Away Medley” - Unity Choir Prayer of Thanksgiving and the Lord’s Prayer Affirmation of Faith I believe God is a God of love, and that God’s love is powerful beyond measure. I believe Jesus Christ is the son of God and the Lord of all things. Having been raised from the dead, Christ, reigns with compassion and justice over all things in heaven and on earth, and that by loving and serving him above all else, we give glory and honor to God. I believe that apart from the Holy Spirit, our Lord can neither be known nor served. The Holy Spirit is the personal bond by which Jesus Christ unites us to himself and empowers us to live in Christ’s service. Through Christ we are raised to new life and for Christ we shall live to all eternity. Amen. Closing Hymn - “Blessed Assurance” Benediction Postlude
