People: We watch for God, whose power redeems us.

Leader: Hear God’s hopeful word, like those who long for pardon.

People: We sing praise to God and rejoice in God’s love.

Prayer of Confession

Out of the depths of our despair, we cry to You, O God. We are lost in a world of pain and suffering. We put our trust in weapons of war and find no peace. We put our faith in our own resources and then complain that You are not with us. We put our hope in the health of our bodies and are surprised when they become injured or ill. Come to us, O God. Help us to put our trust and faith in You so that in times of war, and illness, and suffering, we remember that You are beside us through it all.  Heal our brokenness, that we may rejoice in Your steadfast love. Amen.

Affirmation of Faith - The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
