The king of Aram had great admiration for , the commander of his army, because through him the Lord had given Aram great victories. But though Naaman was a mighty warrior, he suffered from leprosy. —2 Kings 5:1 Naaman, a very important military commander, is sent to the prophet Elisha for healing. But Elisha doesn’t meet with him. Instead, he sends Naaman a message: “Go and wash yourself seven times in the Jordan River. Then your skin will be , and you will be healed of your leprosy.” (2 Kings 5:10) What was Naaman’s response to this message? “But Naaman became stalked away.” (2 Kings 5:12) Is anger a part of how God designed us? Or is it a part of our fallen creation? Resentment is like swallowing and expecting the other person to die. —Bert Ghezzi What anger do you need to let go of? What resentment do you need to release? Hymn - “The Church’s One Foundation” - #422 Prayer of Confession God of Redemption, we come today to confess that we want to be special. We want to stand out, we want others to notice how smart, skilled, pretty, or important we are. We believe that in order to be the best at something, that other people must be worse. Help us to be humble, to realize that we are better when we support each other, and to always rely on You first instead of our own abilities. We ask all this in the name of Jesus, Amen. He descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
