And now, brothers and sisters, we want you to know about the that God has given the Macedonian churches.  —2 Corinthians 8:1

What was the act of grace demonstrated by the Macedonian churches?

For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the of sharing in this service to the Lord’s people. —2 Corinthians 8:3-4

How is it a privilege to share in God's mission to the world?

But since you in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you—see that you also excel in this grace of giving. —2 Corinthians 8:7

περισσεύω = to go beyond the , over and above.

On this Visioning Sunday, I pray that God will share with you the ways you can excel in the grace of giving in 2024.

Call to Worship - Rev. Dana Seiler

  • Leader: We come from all over – the rich and the poor, the struggling and the secure;
  • People: God calls us all.
  • Leader: We bring our hearts to this place with our joys and sorrows, our questions and fears.
  • People: God knows us all.
  • Leader: We offer what we have, our talents and our flaws, our hopes and our dreams.
  • People: God loves us all. Let us worship God today.

Hymn - “For the Beauty of the Earth” - #473

Prayer of Confession
Holy Lord, we are Your people. We are grateful, we give to one another, we do missions and teach Sunday school and get up from our pews and shake each other’s hands in welcome. Sometimes we ignore the pleas for help with this event or that program, but we are a good church. Help us to know how to be an even better church. Help us to take that next step, to grow a little deeper in our faith, to trust You a little more, to be a little more generous, and to lean just a little bit more on Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray today, Amen.

Doxology - “Give Thanks”

Affirmation of Faith - The Apostles’ Creed: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
