Call to Worship - Rev. Dana Seiler

  • Leader: The God whom we worship calls us:
  • People: To follow where Christ leads;
  • Leader: To follow when it is not easy;
  • People: To follow when others think us foolish;
  • Leader: To follow where love guides us;
  • People: To follow, even when it leads to the cross.
  • Leader: Come, let us worship the Almighty King,
  • People: who restores us through grace and forgiveness.

Hymn - “Come Thou Almighty King” - #139 - 4 Verses

Prayer of Confession
Holy Lord, we find ourselves using our faith as a badge of honor, a way to show others how good we are through the deeds we do. Or we use it to try to barter with You for something we may want. But the faith You call us to is more dangerous. It's the faith that carries the cross, that embraces death, and lays itself down for the sake of others. Help us be courageous enough to embrace that faith, to pick up our cross and follow Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray, Amen.

Affirmation of Faith - The Apostles’ Creed: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
