God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over everything for the church, which is his . —Ephesians 1:22-23a

What are practical ways the church can act as Jesus’ body?

Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. —Ephesians 4:11-12

Apostles- those commissioned by the church for a specific . Prophets- those who make known the will of God. Evangelists— those who proclaim the gospel message.  Pastors— those who the church. Teachers— those who teach the faith.

This will continue until we all come to such in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. —Ephesians 4:13

Hymn - “Be Thou My Vision” - #339 3 Verses

Prayer of Confession: Ever present God, You call us to be Your body in this world, but often we get caught up in being a hand or a foot, and lose sight of the overarching mission You set before us. We fracture into pieces, forgetting that we need each other to be whole. Help us to see with new eyes, and hear with new ears the cries of our hearts as we work together for good in the world. Give us strength as one body and enable us to do all that You call us to do as the hands and feet of Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray, Amen.

Doxology

Affirmation of Faith - The Apostles’ Creed: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
