What is a source of conflict in your family?

Now Jacob Joseph more than any of his other sons, because he had been born to him in his old age; and he made an ornate robe for him. When his brothers saw that their father loved him more than any of them, they him and could not speak a kind word to him. —Genesis 37:3-4

Providence— God’s ability to work out God’s and purposes through all things

“Come now, let’s kill him and throw him into one of these cisterns and say that a ferocious animal devoured him. Then we’ll see what comes of his .” —Genesis 37:20

“You don’t choose your family. They are God’s to you, as you are to them.” —Desmond Tutu

How is your family a gift from God?

Trust that God has given you the family you have, with all of its quirks, to be a source of joy and support.

Hymn - “Come, Christians, Join to Sing” - #150 - 3 Verses

Prayer of Confession:
O God, you know how hard it is to be in relationships, and yet you created us to live together in community. There are times when our patience is short, when we may be tired, or angry, or hungry, or hurt, and our actions cause a rift between us and the ones we love. Remove the obstacles from our lives that keep us from loving and caring for each other and help us to live in harmony with those around us, as we strive to become closer to you, in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Affirmation of Faith - The Apostles’ Creed:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
