Sermon - “Small Acts, Big Faith” Rev. David Bonnema

Creation displays the glory of God. Where have you seen God’s glory lately?

What kind of leader is King Nebuchadnezzar? Describe him.

How old was Daniel when he was taken from Jerusalem and sent to Babylon?

Daniel means “God is my .” Why was Daniel given a new name?

But Daniel resolved not to himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.  —Daniel 1:8

At the end of 10 days, how did Daniel look and feel?

Faithfulness is formed in the ordinary moments of life.

Call to Worship - Rev. Dana Seiler

  • Leader: Come and worship, people of God,
  • People: We are ready to worship today.
  • Leader: If you are worn by worry, lay down your cares.
  • People: We give them to the Lord today.
  • Leader: In the midst of challenges, God gives you strength.
  • People: When our names are forgotten, God remembers us.
  • Leader: So let us gather in hope, grounded in God.
  • People: Come, let us worship the Lord our God.

Hymn - “God of Grace and God of Glory” - #420 Verses 1,2,4

Prayer of Confession:
Gracious God, we confess that we often compromise our values and lose sight of You when faced with hardships and trials. We adapt to the culture around us more easily than we hold fast to our identity in Christ. We fear standing out or being different, so we settle for fitting in. We forget that You are with us in every circumstance. Forgive us, O God. Renew our courage. Restore our faith. Strengthen our resolve to be your people, wherever we find ourselves, we pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Affirmation of Faith - The Apostles’ Creed:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
