Call to Worship - Rev. Dana Seiler

  • Leader: Jesus calls us to listen and to learn.
  • People: We come hungry for blessing, for mercy, and for truth.
  • Leader: Jesus calls us to be the light of the world.
  • People: We let God’s light shine through us.
  • Leader: Jesus calls us to build our lives on a solid rock.
  • People: Let us worship the God of grace and peace.

Hymn - “The Church’s One Foundation” - #442 Verses 1, 2, 5

Prayer of Confession:
Merciful God, you call us to a deep righteousness, yet we confess that we settle for shallow appearances. You call us to love our neighbors as well as our enemies, but we cling to resentment and judgment. You tell us not to worry, yet we seek our own security more than your strength. Forgive us when we build our lives on sand instead of on your truth. Turn our hearts back toward you. Shape us by your grace, that we may live as citizens of your kingdom, seeking justice, loving mercy, and walking humbly with you in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Doxology

Affirmation of Faith - The Apostles’ Creed:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
