Call to Worship - Rev. Dana Seiler

  • Leader: We come with many different visions of the world.
  • People: Some visions are shaped by fear, some by habit.
  • Leader: Some are shaped by our assumptions and our desires.
  • People: Jesus stands among us, calling us to see with new eyes.
  • Leader: Let us learn to release what does not give life.
  • People: Let us worship God, whose truth realigns our hearts.

Hymn - “Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah” - #281 - 3 Verses

Prayer of Confession:
Holy Lord, we confess that we often cling to visions of the world that benefit us, protect our comfort, or preserve our power. We can be more concerned with looking faithful than living faithfully. We focus on following the rules instead of extending mercy, more concerned about our appearance than our integrity. We honor you with our words while resisting the transformation of our hearts. Forgive us when we turn away from your vision of justice, compassion, and grace. Clear our vision and realign our lives so that we might follow you faithfully, in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Doxology

Affirmation of Faith - The Apostles’ Creed:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
