Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and , to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. —1 Peter 2:11

A sojourner refers to a person who is just through.

How should Christians interact with a culture that does not accept them?
Live such lives among unbelievers that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us. —1 Peter 2:12

Always be prepared to give an to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. —1 Peter 3:15a

Know your story: What changed when you began to follow Jesus?

Call to Worship - Rev. Dana Seiler:

  • Leader: In Christ, we come together as the family of God.
  • People: In Christ, we come seeking clean hearts.
  • Leader: In Christ, we are called to compassion and love.
  • People: In Christ, we are given everlasting life.
  • Leader: In Christ, our lives are changed.
  • People: In Christ, we offer ourselves in worship today.

Hymn - “My Hope is Built”- #379 Verses 1, 2, 4

Prayer of Confession :
Merciful God, You call us to have a mind of Christ, yet we often choose the mind of the world. We seek recognition instead of humility, comfort instead of compassion, and security instead of justice. You remind us that through Jesus Christ, we have been given a living hope, yet we often live in hopelessness. We become discouraged, impatient, and fearful, forgetting that our future is already secured through Your Son. Forgive us, O God. Shape us into Christlike people, renew our minds with Your truth, and fill us again with the living hope that comes through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Doxology

Affirmation of Faith - The Apostles’ Creed:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
