Prelude Welcome - Rev. David Bonnema Call to Worship Leader: This is a day to remember. People: We remember the meal that Jesus shared with his disciples. Leader: We remember the new covenant of bread and cup. People: We remember Jesus’ night alone in the garden in prayer. Leader: We remember his arrest, his trial, his suffering, the denial of his friend. People: We remember this day and thank God for Jesus’ presence with us, then and now. Hymn - “In Remembrance of Me” - #2254 - 3 Verses Prayer of Confession: Gracious and loving God, we confess that we are not always faithful disciples. We want to follow Jesus, yet we wander. We want to stay awake, yet we grow weary. We want to be brave, yet we choose comfort and safety. Still, you invite us to the table. You break the bread for us. You pour the cup for us. You call us your own, not because we are worthy, but because your love is unconditional. Forgive us when we fall short. Wash us in your mercy, nourish us with your grace, and make us one with Christ and with each other. Help us to live as people who have been changed by your love. We pray tonight in the name of Jesus, who loved all of his disciples, no matter their faithfulness, Amen. Assurance of Pardon The Story In Four Parts: Part 1— Last Supper Rev. On the night before his crucifixion, Jesus was betrayed, abandoned by his disciples, mocked, and stripped of his clothing. The beauty and decoration of the sanctuary will now be removed to symbolize this moment in the story of Jesus. The chancel will slowly become bare, reminding us that Christ was left alone as he entered into his suffering. Recessional Tonight, we invite you to leave the sanctuary in silence. The Holy Week story continues on Good Friday. Come between 12:00 and 1:00pm or between 6:30 and 7:30 pm for an interactive Stations of the Cross experience.
