Ruth’s request to Boaz: “Spread the corner of your garment over me, since you are a guardian- of our family.” —Ruth 3:9b

What is Ruth truly asking of Boaz?

The Old Testament laws point to this concept If one of your fellow Israelites becomes and sells some of their property, their nearest relative is to come and redeem what they have sold. —Leviticus 25:25

Jesus is the fullest expression of redemption For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ… —1 Peter 1:18-19a

How are we redeemed by Jesus?

Those in Christ are a redeemed people!

Call to Worship - Mary Carolyn Titus

  • Leader: When the future seems uncertain, God calls us to trust.
  • People: We come seeking the courage to follow God.
  • Leader: When fear tells us to stay safe, God invites us to step forward in faith.
  • People: We come ready to respond to God’s voice.
  • Leader: Let us worship God with courage, trust, and hope.
  • People: We come to worship the Lord!

Hymn - “God of Grace and God of Glory” - #420 Verses 1, 4, 5

Prayer of Confession:
Almighty God, You call us to trust, yet we often cling to what feels safe and familiar. We hesitate when courage is required, doubt when hope seems distant, and resist taking the faithful steps You place before us. Forgive us for the times we have allowed fear to guide our decisions. Teach us to trust where You lead, even when the path is unclear. Give us courage, wisdom, and integrity. Renew our confidence in Your steadfast love and help us participate in Your work of redemption in the world. In Christ's name we pray. Amen.

Affirmation of Faith - From Unity’s CPJ Team:
We believe that we are followers of Jesus Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and entrusted by God, our Creator, to seek justice, speak up for the widow, the orphan, the immigrant, and the poor. We believe that we are guided by Jesus to love our neighbor as ourselves, to feed the hungry, refresh the thirsty, clothe the naked, tend the sick, and visit the imprisoned. As followers of God, we celebrate the diversity of God’s people and seek to build bridges of understanding and equality, trusting that God is still renewing the world through acts of mercy, courage, and love.
