Boaz asks, “How can I ?”

Then Naomi took the child in her arms and cared for him. The women living there said, “Naomi has a son!” And they named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of . —Ruth 4:16-17

This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham… Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was . —Matthew 1:1,5

  • People: God’s redeeming work continues in the world.
  • Leader: Come, let us worship the God who makes all things new.
  • People: We come to worship with gratitude and praise.

Hymn - “Come Christians, Join to Sing” - #150 - 3 Verses

Prayer of Confession:
Redeeming God, You call us to participate in your work of healing and restoration, yet too often we remain on the sidelines. We see opportunities to act with courage, generosity, and compassion, but choose comfort and safety over faithfulness. We benefit from your grace while forgetting to extend that same grace to others. Forgive us when we fail to see the needs of others, when we withhold kindness, and when we doubt that you can redeem our difficult circumstances. Renew our hearts and strengthen our faith, that we may become willing partners in your work of reconciliation and hope. In the name of Christ, our Redeemer, we pray. Amen.

Doxology

Affirmation of Faith from Unity’s CPJ Team:
We believe that we are followers of Jesus Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and entrusted by God, our Creator, to seek justice, speak up for the widow, the orphan, the immigrant, and the poor. We believe that we are guided by Jesus to love our neighbor as ourselves, to feed the hungry, refresh the thirsty, clothe the naked, tend the sick, and visit the imprisoned. As followers of God, we celebrate the diversity of God’s people and seek to build bridges of understanding and equality, trusting that God is still renewing the world through acts of mercy, courage, and love.
