Call to Worship - Kris Galyen
Leader: Come, all who are weary and carrying burdens.
People: We come to the God who meets us in our troubles.
Leader: Come, all who have known grief and loneliness,
People: We come trusting that God is with us.
Leader: May we receive God’s comfort today.
People: May we carry that comfort into the world.

Hymn - “Our God, Our Help in Ages Past” - #210 Verses 1, 2, 4, 5

Prayer of Confession
Merciful God, we confess that most of the time we don’t know what to say when someone is hurting. We are tempted to offer quick answers instead of simply being present. We sometimes keep our own struggles hidden, afraid to let others see our need. And sometimes we become so focused on fixing the problem that we forget to offer the simple gift of compassion. Forgive us for our missteps. Teach us to be people who listen, who stay, who care, and who remind one another that no one has to walk through difficult seasons alone. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Affirmation of Faith
We believe that faith is not meant to be lived alone. We are called to walk together as the body of Christ, learning from one another, encouraging one another, and helping one another grow. We believe that sometimes love means offering encouragement, and sometimes love means speaking a difficult truth. We believe that we all need people who will comfort us in times of sadness, walk beside us through life, and lovingly point us toward Christ. We believe that as we teach, encourage, challenge, forgive, and love one another, we grow more fully into the people God calls us to be. So we seek to speak with wisdom and humility, to listen with open hearts, and to support others as we seek to do God’s will together. Amen.
