9:30am Welcome - Rev. David Bonnema Opening Song - “House of the Lord” Time of Greeting Children’s Time Vision for Missions Song - “Gratitude” Sermon - “Forbear One Another” Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, with one another in love. —Ephesians 4:2 For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished. —Romans 3:25b Bear with each other and one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. —Colossians 3:12 “Forgiveness is a lovely concept until you actually have someone to forgive.” —C.S. Lewis When have you needed to ‘bear with’ someone else? When has someone needed to do that for you? Who you are today will not be who you are a year from now. What trajectory are you on? Song - “The Author” Offering and Prayer - Marty Smith Song - “I Thank God” Benediction 11:00am Prelude - “Jesus Makes My Heart Rejoice” (Elmore) - Ginger Wyrick Welcome - Rev. People: Teach us to bear with one another in love. Hymn - “Called as Partners in Christ’s Service” - #343 Verses 1, 3, 4 Prayer of Confession: God of grace, we confess that we are not always patient with others. We become frustrated with people who fail to meet our expectations in a timely way. We hold onto irritation, keep score of offenses, and sometimes expect grace for ourselves while demanding perfection from others. Forgive us. Soften our hearts and remind us that we, too, are works in progress. Teach us humility, gentleness, and patience, so that we may bear with one another as you bear with us, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. Declaration of Forgiveness Passing of the Peace Vision for Worship Song - “Carried by Love” (Lantz) - Unity Choir Sermon - “Forbear One Another” - Rev. David Bonnema Song - “Love Never Ends” (Volk) - Unity Choir Offering and the Lord’s Prayer Doxology Affirmation of Faith: We believe that faith is not meant to be lived alone. We are called to walk together as the body of Christ, learning from one another, encouraging one another, and helping one another grow. We believe that sometimes love means offering encouragement, and sometimes love means speaking a difficult truth. We believe that we all need people who will comfort us in times of sadness, walk beside us through life, and lovingly point us toward Christ. We believe that as we teach, encourage, challenge, forgive, and love one another, we grow more fully into the people God calls us to be. So we seek to speak with wisdom and humility, to listen with open hearts, and to support others as we seek to do God’s will together. Amen. Hymn - “Bind Us Together” - #2226 Benediction Postlude - “Toccata all’Offertorio” (Zipoli)
