Flannelgraph Gospel Part 5 New Not Next

MICAIAH IRMLER

MATTHER 3:13 NKJV

13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. 14 And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?” 15 But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him. 16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

Matthew 4:1-11 NKJV

1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. 3 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” 4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ” 5 Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, 6 and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up,Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ ” 7 Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not [a]tempt the Lord your God.’ ” 8 Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” 10 Then Jesus said to him, [b]“Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ” 11 Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.

Note: There is WHO you are and then there is WHERE you are WHY you are.

When You Don’t Fit the Mold vs. 13-14

13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. 14 And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?

Remember: You can’t assign an identity you can only align with your God-given identity.

There is a Forgotten Identity

There is a Forsaken Identity

There is a Fake Identity

There is Finding Your True Identity

Break the Mold vs. 15-16

15 But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him. 16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.

Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Question: Have you ever been told why can’t you be more like your sister, brother, friend, co-worker, their husband, or their wife, or their son, or their daughter, etc.?

To depart from a traditional pattern; to defy convention. To make it impossible for an identical copy to be made.

Note: We all have a desire that says, accept me, affirm me, approve me.

Note: If Jesus surrendered to the need for approval Jesus would not have been baptized.

Note: If I am obsessed with what others think of me then I will be tempted to obey others more than God.

Remember: When we take this desire and project it on people like a boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, child, boss, pastor you then put that person up on a pedestal that says what they say matters more than what God says.

Note: Your issue may be that people are too big in your life and that God is too small in your life.

Changing Always Starts with Choosing vs. 15

15 But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him.

God’s Valuation is My Validation - My beloved son

Question: Have you ever said to yourself, “I’m not .”

God’s View Determines - in whom I am well pleased.

Ephesians 2:4-6 NKJV

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),  6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

God’s Voice Will Lead to My Victory vs. 17 & 4:1-3

17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

Note: Three times recorded in the Bible God spoke audible and directly to Jesus and are recorded. At Jesus baptism, transfiguration, and his crucifixion.

Quote: When I see as God sees then I will do as God says. ~Unknown

Matthew 4:1-11 NKJV

1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. 3 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

The devil wants to start a dialogue of .

Satan can’t change who you are but He sure works hard to change who you think you are.

Who you are is not up for grabs but who you think you are is.

Victory is dependent upon the voice you to most.

Question: Whose Word is winning in your life?

God is Not About Molds but Masterpieces vs. 16-17

Note: Things Open once we obey

I Corinthians 5:7 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Do you know what new means? Something that has never been before.

Question: Have you met the new you?

Remember: You are new not just what comes next.

The unstoppable you - Capable Through .

The unshakable you - Called by Christ

The unbeatable you - in Christ

Take Away:

Remember: You can’t please everyone but you can please .

Remember: Don’t hide who you are.

Your Identity is more important than your .

People today don’t know what they want to do or what they should do because they don’t know who they truly are. Break the Mold

Not every environment is going to encourage you to grow but break the mold anyway.

Hell will challenge you over what has called you.

Sometimes we lack clarity because we have a filter over our future. Personality is not permanent.

Your strongest identity is child of God.

Note: The last time we read about a dove in the Bible is in while Noah was still in the ark he sent out two birds one a raven which did not come back but the dove did come back and then came back with an olive branch.

Dove only will land on what is clean and .

When you are in Christ you are declared righteous the will rest on you.

Note: So when we sing come rest on us we are a people that the Holy Spirit of God can indeed rest on.

The answer to your failures is not to fix them but to forgive them.

A label is the way you see you but how does God see you?

You can always live below your label but you will never live beyond your label.

Who was Jesus?

Our strongest identity is when we identify with Jesus.

He’s the son of God.

Your identity needs to catch up to your .

Your activity needs to catch up to your identity.

We model what was mirrored.

Your identity is not to live with a limp but new life.

Abraham

Give your activity time to catch up with your identity.

Abraham means father of many while he was childless.

Peter means a rock even though he was inconsistent.

Do you ever struggle with doubts to live up to God’s expectation of you?

Hearing God’s Voice and

The voice you listen to will determine

Question: Where are you?

Two Places at once

The real you is who you are and where you are.

This revelation

Question: How many of us can relate we are spending our life pretending to be other people.

The issue isn’t gender but

This is about the new you not the next you.

Note: Some people forget who they are, some people forsake who they are and other fake who they are but this morning I want you to find out who you truly are.

Note: This is the beginning of Jesus ministry not his .

I Can’t but He Can

I’m Not but He is

You are the only you there is ever going to be. Therefore no one can worship God like you or serve Him like you.

Our true identities get buried under the mistakes we made, the insecurities we’ve acquired, and the lies we believe. We’re held captive by others expectations.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

The word workmanship in the Greek is the word, which means God’s work of art.

Note: When you have an incorrect assumption you get an incorrect assessment.

God’s View Is My .

God’s Valuation Determines My .

God’s Voice Determines my .

Unfair criticism Unrealistic compliments Unwise comparisons

Note: When people are bigger than God then the devil will be stronger than you.

Note: My worth is based on what God says about me not what you think about me.
