Chasing Purpose Part IV: Don't Pass on your Purpose

Micaiah Irmler

Luke 10:25-37 NKJV

25 And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?” 27 So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ” 28 And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.” 29 But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” 30 Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32 Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. 33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. 34 So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’ 36 So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?”37 And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

May God bless the reading of His .

Remember: Touch your neighbor and give them the title of my message and the first point… DON’T PASS ON YOUR PURPOSE.

Note: Jesus tells a parable to illustrate a purpose.

The Ignorant vs. 25-29

25 And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?” 27 So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ” 28 And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.” 29 But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

Remember: to a purpose doesn’t change its purpose.

If you want to know the purpose of a thing never ask the thing.

The Indifferent vs. 30-32

30 Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32 Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side.

Remember: You can do nothing wrong and still have done nothing right.

Question: Are you consumed by things that don’t matter?

Remember: To the Priest and the Levite the Call of God Becomes a Curse!

The Priest was About Preserving Religious Rituals.

The Levite was About Protecting Right Laws.

Your beliefs will change your behavior.

Your behavior will change who you become.

Remember: Religion and laws will never save you.

Is potential getting in the way of your purpose?

Potential is while is directing.

The Involved vs. 33-35

33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. 34 So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’

Note: All three saw the same thing but only one stopped to help.

Remember: The Samaritan wasn’t seeking a but serving a purpose.

Fit - Your design will lead you to a holy discontent.

Fulfillment.

Fruitfulness.

Quote: I heard a preacher say in one of my Bible College chapels twenty years ago, “God doesn’t always call the qualified but he qualifies the called.”

God doesn’t say go when your ready… He says Go and I will be with you.

Note: Church sometimes I do things and I don’t even have enough faith but my faith will catch up with my pursuit of purpose.

The Indecisive vs. 36-37

36 So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?”37 And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

Question: Are you just saved?

Note: You are not just saved from something but saved for something.

God has a Unique Purpose for You.

God has a Universal Purpose for His Church.

God has an Ultimate Purpose for His Glory.

**Remember: Here are the ABC’s of faith. A - abandon your old life. B - believe God’s promises are trustworthy. C - Commit to a new journey.

It didn’t matter and I don’t mind missing what doesn’t matter. However there has been times where I sensed that I was supposed to help someone and didn’t. That matters. matters. matters. matters.

Are you more focused on your potential than on your purpose?

God does not care about our potential but he is crazy about your purpose.

What if you fulfilled your purpose but never lived up to your potential?

Could potential be standing in the way of fulfilling your purpose?

Note: You can be gifted to do something and not graced to do it.

Note: Conversely you can be graced to do something you are not gifted to do.

Verse: God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the .

You have more potential than you do purpose?

Why would you have more potential than purpose?

Are you focused more on your gifting or your grace?

We lack the confidence that we will ever become the person we were created to become.

The all important email.

Cursed with a calling.

Trying to survive is actually easier than trying to thrive.

To be in the will of God is to simply be willing to do the will of God.

Your difference is your destiny.

Compassion is an .

What a terrible thing that everyone know what you are but you not know why you are.

There is little commitment today because what good is without a calling to tie itself too.

Everything starts as a seed. Potential needs to be planted . A seed needs soil.

A seed will produce because that is its purpose.

Note: Leaving Jerusalem to go to Jericho. A good place to a bad place.

Question: If religion can save us then which religion is right?

Note: The Good Samaritan was despised and rejected. Jesus was despised and rejected by man as well.

Note: Jesus didn’t just save us, but healed us, and then said if we need anything else when He comes back he will pay for it.

Remember: Jesus is coming back one day.

Note: Substitution is all over this .

Remember: Ignorance of a purpose does not cancel a purpose.

Note: Not every purpose is known.

Ignorance needs . Ignorant to informed.

needs the creator to know its purpose.

Note: Manufactures want the customer to be satisfied with the product.

wants you to be satisfied with your beautiful life.

Remember: How well something performs is based on your understanding of purpose.

Note: If you don’t know your purpose then potential is wasted.

The plans are there to make sure we the intended purpose.

God’s plan for you is perfect for your .

Colossians 1:9 NKJV

9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; 12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. 13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption [d]through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. 18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.

Note: While this is a parable its accomplished its purpose.

Go and do likewise.

Go do all that you should do.

Illustration: John Sung

Every product has a purpose.

Before a product is made it purpose is known.

Before a product is put into production its purpose is known.

Success therefore is in the product fulfilling its purpose.

All things begin and end with purpose.

Here is the principle and a priority.

Your mere existence is evidence that this world needs what you are.

If you don’t deploy your gifts others will employ your gifts.

Plans change Purpose Is Constant

No one can take your place or your purpose.

They may take your place but they can’t take your purpose.

Positioned for purpose

Just as much as the world needs you and your purpose you also need your purpose.

Interconnected

Purpose takes our mistakes and misfortunes and transformed them into something miraculous and meaningful.

Note: There is a growing lack of confidence and commitment.

Your purpose isn’t for you. Your purpose is God’s .

Ephesians 4:7 NKJV But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.
