Curiosity is how we learn. “There is something here I don’t understand yet, and I want to know more.” We can become familiar with Christianity and stop being curious about Jesus. We know the stories. We’ve heard the sermons. We know the songs. We know the answers. But are we still asking questions? Matthew 28:17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Some worshiped. Some doubted. Jesus still gave them a mission. Keep Following. Keep learning. Keep growing. Keep asking. Keep going. (1) Curiosity Keeps Us Following Jesus requires continual exploration and growth. Matthew 28:19–20 “Go and make disciples…” “…teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” We don't graduate from discipleship. There is always more to discover. More questions to ask. More Scripture to explore. More ways God wants to transform us. Spiritual maturity isn't having fewer questions. It may mean learning to ask better questions. Instead of: “Why is God allowing this?” Ask: “God, how can I trust You when I don't understand?” Familiarity can become the enemy of wonder. “God, show me something new.” The Bible may be the same Bible you read ten years ago. But you aren't the same person you were ten years ago. (2) Curiosity Drives Asking “how?” and “why?” leads to obedience and deeper engagement. Knowing about Jesus isn't the same as following Jesus. Curiosity asks: “Okay, I know what Jesus said. Now what does that mean for me?” Why does Jesus teach this? How do I live this out? What would obedience look like here? What needs to change in me? “Love your enemies.” How do I actually love someone who has hurt me? “Forgive.” What would one step toward forgiveness look like for me? “Serve one another.” Where am I being invited to serve rather than be served? Go to church. Read the Bible. Pray. Give. Serve. Curiosity reconnects our actions with our relationship with God. Instead of: “I have to pray.” Ask: “God, what happens when I actually bring this to You?” (3) Curiosity Leads to When we become genuinely fascinated by what God is doing, we want other people to see it too. “Go and make disciples of all nations…” The mission doesn't begin with: “We have a responsibility.” It begins with: “Look what God has done!” Instead of: “How do I get this person to become a Christian?” Ask: “I wonder what God is doing in this person's life.” Get curious. Listen. Ask questions. Build a relationship. Not simply: “Do you believe?” But: “What do you believe?” Not simply: “Do you go to church?” But: “What has your experience with church been like?” “What questions are you asking right now?” “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” We don't have to figure everything out. We keep walking with Jesus. Am I still curious about Jesus? Am I still willing to learn? Am I still willing to ask questions? Am I still willing to have my assumptions challenged? What is God inviting me to learn? What is God inviting me to do? Who is God inviting me to become curious about? Keep learning. Keep asking. Keep exploring. Keep obeying. Keep wondering. Keep sharing. There is always more to discover. There is always another question. There is always another person to love. There is always another opportunity to obey. There is always more of Jesus to know. STAY CURIOUS. KEEP FOLLOWING. Matthew 28:20 “I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
