(1) God knows me, so I am .

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Psalm 8:3-4
When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?

Because God knows me, I am known. And because I am fully known and deeply loved, I can bring my questions to Him without fear.

(2) The Holy Spirit leads me, so I am .

John 16:13
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth.

The Holy Spirit leads me, so I can listen and respond.

(3) Jesus loves me, so I am .

I do believe; help my unbelief.

Jesus loves me, so I am loved – even when I have questions or doubt.

(4) I am a of God

Romans 8:14, 16-17

Romans 8:14
For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.

Romans 8:16
The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.

Romans 8:17
Now if we are children, then we are heirs — heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

Being a child of God is a statement about both our identity and our ongoing relationship with God

God knows me
So I can confidently bring my questions to Him.

Jesus loves me
So I can be honest with Him.

The Holy Spirit leads me
So I can listen and be transformed.

I am a child of God
So I can keep growing as I follow Him.

If these things are true, how does it affect the way that we approach God’s word?

In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you."

What do you notice?

What do you wonder?

What do you think this shows us about Jesus?

What might this have felt like for the disciples?
