Happy Mother's Day - we honor and appreciate you all from our own mothers, to our spiritual mothers. We thank you for your dedication and commitment. 1 Kings 19:19-21 NASB In this passage of scripture we see that Elisha was stepping into the unknown, he would have to step out in faith and put all his trust in a prophet he heard of but didn’t know. That sounds a lot like our relationship with Jesus. We left our sinful lifestyle behind, and accepted, and followed a man Jesus we didn’t know at the time. We stepped out in faith when we said the prayer for salvation. We put all our faith and trust in someone we maybe had heard of but didn’t know. One major difference with Elisha was that he left everything to follow Elijah the man of God. Today, we like to hold on to stuff, we allow the world to tell us what we should or shouldn’t do, we allow situations dictate what happens next. Elisha burned the plow, killed the ox, boiled them, kissed his parents, and basically said goodbye to everything to follow the man of God. Elisha had to that Elijah would not lead him astray and that he would take care of his needs. God wants us to Him with everything. That doesn’t mean we do not work or take care of our lives. No that means that we trust God to open avenues of provision, blessings, favor, and other things. Matthew 10:24-25 NASB Our goal is to follow, learn, and be examples of Jesus Christ that we begin to look like Him, walk, and talk like Him. Elisha would have the ways to be a prophet by watching Elijah, learning from him, and watching his example. A student , , and up to his master as an example. One of the biggest spiritual battles we are faced with today is spending time with the Father. Time learning from Him, time allowing Him to be the example in our lives, and time from spending in prayer, and allowing Him to direct us. If we do not burn the plows and kill the oxen in our lives, then the enemy will use that tie to change our focus and draw us back to a place of no advancement. The past may look good, but it only brings us back to a place of depression and despair. Walking, learning, and seeking God will bring life, direction, and new encounters every day. Hebrews 11:6 NASB In order for, us to be righteous, pleasing it takes our obedience, but more so it takes us to Burn the Plows in our lives, and follow Jesus. We must believe that Jesus is who He says He is, and that He will not lead us astray, but will lead us to a place of reward, fulfillment, and blessing. God is calling us to Burn the Plows of our past, and to fully follow Him. In by doing so we will begin to become like our master and see greater things in our lives. It is our choice to fully surrender, serve, and become a disciple of God.
