Asking For a Friend

By Dean Fulks, September 11, 2022

God has answers to life's toughest questions

1 Corinthians 1:27b - God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong

1 Corinthians 2:3a - And I was with you in weakness…

1 Corinthians 4:10b - We are weak, but you are strong.

2 Corinthians 12:5 – I will only boast about my weaknesses.

Active weakness means embracing humility, where pseudo-strength means embrace stupidity

1 Corinthians 7:1-5 – Now concerning the matters about which you wrote: “It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman.” But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband. The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise, the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.

Don’t idolize or demonize marriage

Have a weak marriage

1 Corinthians 7:4 – “For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise, the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.”

1 Corinthians 7:33-34 – But the married man is anxious about worldly things, how to please his wife, and his interests are divided. And the unmarried or betrothed woman is anxious about the things of the Lord, how to be holy in body and spirit. But the married woman is anxious about worldly things, how to please her husband.

Ephesians 5:21 – “And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.”
