Dead People

Not Without Hope

By Dean Fulks, January 15, 2023

Hope is the spiritual ability to imagine a better future

Jesus is the source of enduring hope

1 Thessalonians 2:13 – And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.

Acts 17:4 – And some of them were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did a great many of the devout Greeks and not a few of the leading women.

Human words are powerful, but God’s Word has authority

Psalm 103:1-2 – Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise His holy name. Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things He does for me.

“Visit many good books, but live in the Bible.” – Charles Spurgeon

1 Thessalonians 2:14-15 – For you, brothers, became imitators of the churches of God in Christ Jesus that are in Judea. For you suffered the same things from your own countrymen as they did from the Jews, who killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and drove us out, and displease God and oppose all mankind

1 Thessalonians 2:7-8;11 – Instead, we were like young children among you. Just as a nursing mother cares for her children, so we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well…For you know that we dealt with each of you, as a father deals with his own children

Human community is substantial, but spiritual community is eternal
