We tend to medicate or dedicate our guilt

We need truth

John 17:1-2 - When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him.

Zechariah 11:12-13 – I said to them, “If it is good in your sight, give me my wages; but if not, never mind!” So they weighed out thirty shekels of silver as my wages. Then the Lord said to me, “Throw it to the potter, that magnificent price at which I was valued by them.” So, I took the thirty shekels of silver and threw them to the potter in the house of the Lord. (NASB)

We want eternal life on our terms

John 17:3 - And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

Eternal life is the core essence of what it means to be a Christian

Eternal life does not begin when you end

Applying the Gospel to our identity is the beginning of healing

Luke 22:42 – “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”
