The Call to Submit to Governing Authorities

An Expository Series in Romans

By Pastor Terry Janke, April 24, 2022

Matthew 22:15 – 22; Romans 13:1 – 7

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore, whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgement. – Romans 13: 1 – 2

Christian communities of faith have St. John’s vision by which to distinguish the politics of the dragon from the politics of the Lamb. We are in a crossfire of blustering dragon-pretension and powerful Lamb-meekness. They are equally concerned with the operation and use of power. We choose… we follow the dragon… or we follow the Lamb…we are in politics whether we want to be or not… - Eugene Peterson
