The Legacy of a Leader

Lead Like Jesus

By Joe Denbow, September 04, 2022

“Not caring is not an option if we are friends of God and if the Holy Spirit is reproducing the character of Christ in our hearts and lives. For someone who is a friend of God, not caring is like not breathing.” -John M. Perkins

Big Idea: Our legacy as a leader is what impacts the world around us.

The nature of is that it transcends time.

Matthew 24:35 NLT “Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.”

Legacy is a part of who we are as, EVEN MORE SO as Christians because of the eternal nature of the Gospel.

Tension: Meaningful Legacy vs. Insignificant Legacy

Our legacy as a leader isn’t about , it’s about what we leave behind for .

Matthew 25:40 NLT “I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me…”

Reality: You will leave a mark on someone.

God made you to be .

“You (and I) share in the responsibility of whether or not the next generation will succeed.” -Christine Caine

“Your most significant leadership accomplishment may not be something you DO but someone you RAISE.” -Andy Stanley

Don’t sell those you impact short, with a self-centered legacy. Give them something eternal.
