What are you seeking? (Psalm 24)

On Repeat

By Joe Denbow, June 02, 2024

1 Samuel 4:21-22 She named the child Ichabod (which means “Where is the glory?”), for she said, “Israel’s glory is gone.” She named him this because the Ark of God had been captured and because her father-in-law and husband were dead. Then she said, “The glory has departed from Israel, for the Ark of God has been captured.”

When we live as if the presence of God doesn’t matter… we shouldn’t be surprised when the presence of God exits our lives.

HOW TO SEEK GOD:

1. WHO I TO.

Psalm 24:1-2 The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him. For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths.

2. MAKE MY LIFE A FOR GOD’S PRESENCE.

Psalm 24:3-6 Who may climb the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place? Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies. They will receive the LORD’s blessing and have a right relationship with God their savior. Such people may seek you and worship in your presence, O God of Jacob.

NIV - Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, God of Jacob.

Hebrews 12:14 Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.

  • DAILY TIME WITH JESUS

Psalm 84:10 A single day in your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else!

Psalm 27:4 The one thing I ask of the LORD—the thing I seek most—is to live in the house of the LORD all the days of my life

  • MONITOR MY INPUTS

Psalm 101:2-3 I will lead a life of integrity in my own home. I will refuse to look at anything vile and vulgar.

  • DISCIPLINE MY OUTPUTS

Psalm 19:14 May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

3. TO WIN BATTLES IN MY LIFE.

Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter. Who is the King of glory? The LORD, strong and mighty; the LORD, invincible in battle. Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter. Who is the King of glory? The LORD of Heaven’s Armies— he is the King of glory.

2 Corinthians 3:17 For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.
