Proverbs 21:31 The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the LORD. What are you doing with your hours and minutes? Each year, the average American spends $1,097 on coffee. In 2023, Netflix’s revenue was $33.7 billion dollars. Every single second, $3,075.94 is spent on pornography. The porn industry makes $97 billion each year, which is more than “the combined revenues of ABC, NBC, and CBS and more than the combined revenues of NFL, NBA, and MLB.” The shopping platform Amazon gets over 2.72 billion unique visitors every month, with the typical American adult spending $50–100 per month. The average working-age individual spends 2.5 hours on social media per day, a number that seems to be increasing with each year. More people access pornography online each month than they visit Netflix, Amazon, and X (formerly Twitter) put together. The average American spends more than $1,200 on fast food every year, which comes out to 10 percent of the average household daily income. Millennials are spending an average of $300 per month on alcohol. The average daily screen time in the USA is seven hours and five minutes. We need a theology of . isn’t working. THINGS I TO DO: 2 Thessalonians 3:7-13 For you know that you ought to imitate us. We were not idle when we were with you. We never accepted food from anyone without paying for it. We worked hard day and night so we would not be a burden to any of you. We certainly had the right to ask you to feed us, but we wanted to give you an example to follow. Even while we were with you, we gave you this command: “Those unwilling to work will not get to eat.” Yet we hear that some of you are living idle lives, refusing to work and meddling in other people’s business. We command such people and urge them in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and work to earn their own living. As for the rest of you, dear brothers and sisters, never get tired of doing good. Ecclesiastes 5:18-20 Even so, I have noticed one thing, at least, that is good. It is good for people to eat, drink, and enjoy their work under the sun during the short life God has given them, and to accept their lot in life. And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life—this is indeed a gift from God. God keeps such people so busy enjoying life that they take no time to brood over the past. THINGS I TO DO: Philippians 2:13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Galatians 5:17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. THINGS I DO: 1 Corinthians 9:26-27 So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified. IF IS IMPORTANT, IS IMPORTANT. THINGS I NEED TO DOING Philippians 3:12 I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. My future will be a direct reflection of the habits I create and maintain today.
