Convinced

What’s it going to take for you to be convinced?

To be convinced, I need to my .

Doubt doesn’t have to be something that drives you away from God. It can be a pathway to an even stronger faith.

1. WHEN I’M IN THE PLACE, I CAN SEE THE RIGHT .

John 20:19 That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” he said.

John 20:24-25 One of the twelve disciples, Thomas (nicknamed the Twin), was not with the others when Jesus came.

James 4:8 Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.

2. JESUS IS WITH OUR DOUBTS.

John 20:25 They told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he replied, “I won’t believe it unless I see the nail wounds in his hands, put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound in his side.”

Matthew 28:16 Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him—but some of them doubted!

  • You don’t have to fully understand, to completely trust.

3. JESUS INVITES US TO .

John 20:26-27 Eight days later the disciples were together again, and this time Thomas was with them. The doors were locked; but suddenly, as before, Jesus was standing among them. “Peace be with you,” he said. Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe!”

  • Chuck Swindoll - “no amount of proof will satisfy a skeptic.”
  • There’s no shortcut around Trust. There’s no shortcut around faith.

4. WE ALL NEED TO MAKE OUR OWN PERSONAL CONFESSION OF .

John 20:28-29 “My Lord and my God!” Thomas exclaimed. Then Jesus told him, “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.”

  • Key word - “my” are you ready to say that? My Lord… My God…

Romans 10:13 “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.”

Romans 10:9-11 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.”
