Perpetuating the Practice

2 Cor 5:17-21 and 2 Tim 2:1-3

Introduction: We have been looking at oft overlooked or misunderstood fundamentals of disciple making (DM). We have seen the need to move beyond just PROGRAMS to a daily PRACTICE of DM. We have seen out the church PREPARES us for this by EQUIPPING, ENCOURAGING, EDIFYING and ENSEMBLING us together for the task. Today we see how the practice of DM is to be .

DM involves (when disciples are born) and (where disciples mature).

2 Cor 5:17-21 deals with evangelism.

-We have been in order to others.

-Evangelism is the of anyone who is in Christ.

2 Tim 2:1-3 deals with discipleship.

-We are so that we might others.

-Teaching is to be from one to the other.

-Teaching is most effective on the level.

-Teaching is often for the teacher and the student.

Discussion Questions

-What makes it hard for you to share the Good News with others?

-What would it take for you to get over the hump and ready to do it?
-How could you take the things that you learn on Sunday or in your private study and share them with others on a regular basis?
-How can you preserve what you learn for later use when the situation arises?
-What types of situations arise in life where some sound biblical wisdom might be appreciated?
-Who in your life could you mentor or could you ask to mentor you? What might this look like?
-What pain or hardship might come with sharing the truth? Does it compare with the pain of facing eternity without Jesus?
