Introduction: No condemnation! How can this be? We have been set free from the law of sin and death by the law of the Spirit of life. This morning we will see Paul continue his argument, explaining how or why this is the case and even more importantly, what the result is. 3a For what the law could not do - 3b in that it was weak through the flesh - 3c God did by sending His own Son - 3d in the likeness of sinful flesh - 3e on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh - 4a that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us - 4b who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. – Discussion Questions: How is David and Saul an illustration of our battle between the Spirit and the flesh? What practical things can you do to be in a better position to walk in the Spirit rather than the flesh? What consequences (good or bad) might you experience when you choose to follow the Spirit rather than the flesh that the whole world is following? How can you use this passage to encourage someone who might be satisfied just being forgiven and not care about actually walking in a righteous manner by the Spirit?
