Introduction: In this passage Paul is going to describe for us the saved mind or how we, as believers, should think about ourselves and the manner in which God has gifted us and called us to serve Him. 3a For I say, While might cause you to do something when you shouldn’t, does not prevent you from doing something when you should. So, Paul speaks. 3b through the grace given to me, What he is saying is not to his . By grace he received it but as an apostle he was to faithfully pass it on. Here we find an area of between grace and our efforts or works. How did Paul describe God’s grace in his life and his efforts to serve God in 1 Corinthians 15:10? Where did grace end and Paul begin? 3c to everyone who is among you, No one can rise or hover the need to be humble. 3d not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. We think about ourselves. Not thinking –This person greatly overestimates their abilities and usually underestimates the value of others. Not thinking – They think they are useless and ignore the gifts and calling of God and do nothing or less than He desires. But thinking – This literally means the saved mind. We humbly recognize that apart from Him we are nothing but soberly we know that we are in Him and His Spirit is in us. So, we can do anything he has called us to do.
