Introduction – We call today Palm Sunday. It is the day Jesus triumphantly rode into Jerusalem on the colt of a donkey to the praise of the crowds who shouted, “Hosanna, Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel.” Sadly, as we all know, that sentiment would change by Friday. In our text today we will learn why. Luke 22:35-37 • What change is Jesus describing in this passage? Isaiah 53 • Why might the rabbis not have seen Isaiah 53 as a prophecy about the messiah? How did the man described in Isaiah 53 suffer? • Why or for what did He suffer? • In order for us, the rejected, to be He who was altogether acceptable needed to be . • How did things turn out for this suffering servant?
