Hard Work

Romans 16:6, 12

Introduction: Because we have very little information about these people from other passages of scripture I will focus on the attributes more than the people. This morning we will see the value of hard work to the church in four of the people Paul mentions.

6 Greet Mary, who labored much for us (you).

12 Greet Tryphena and Tryphosa, who have labored (who are laboring) in the Lord. Greet the beloved Persis, who labored much in the Lord.

  • In these four, we see the importance of in a growing and healthy church.
    • We are not saved good works but we are saved good works.
    • Good works are not the of our salvation but the of our salvation.
  • When you find your in the Lord you might be surprised at what you can do.
  • In Maria & Persis we learn there are times when our labor might come to an .
  • In Tryphena and Tryphosa we see the need for service unto the Lord.
  • We are to serve the Lord to the strength and abilities He gives us.
  • Regarding those who need to rest and those who need to start working:
    • We need to be up new leaders and workers not just simply walking away and expecting someone else to fill the job with no experience.
    • Trainers need to be to the input and ideas of those they are training.
    • If you need to step away, seek to do with whatever strength you have left.
  • Every one of these hard workers was a .
    • Men need to step up and not just sit by because a woman is to do it.
    • People need to see godly men living by inside and outside the church.
