Introduction: The Gospel is the power of God to save (Rom 1:16). Even though it took us over 3 years to study Romans, the Gospel is not complicated. Even a child can understand it. Today we will learn a practical way to share the Gospel in a clear and understandable way for most people in our society. Five Critical Parts of The Gospel 1. Grace: Heaven is a free gift that cannot be earned or deserved. 2. Man: We are all sinners who cannot save ourselves. 3. God: Loves us & doesn’t want to punish us but He’s just & must. 4. Christ: Jesus, the God-Man, died and rose again to save us. 5. Faith: We receive this gift by trusting Jesus alone for forgiveness and eternal life. A More Detailed Explanation 1. Grace – I have some great news! • Heaven is a free gift (Rom 6:23) • It is not earned or deserved (Eph 2:8-9) 2. Man – There is a reason we cannot earn or deserve it. • Everyone is a sinner (Rom 3:23) • No one can save themselves (Mt 5:48) 3. God – What does God thinks of this? • God love us & doesn’t want to punish us (1 Jn 4:8) • But God is also just and must punish sin (Ex 34:7) 4. Christ – God sent His Son Jesus to solve this problem. • Jesus is fully God and fully man (John 1:1,14) • He lived a perfect life, died on the cross to pay for our sins and rose 3 days later. • God laid on Him the sins of us all. (Is 53:6) • Jesus paid for my sins and He offers me the gift of forgiveness and eternal life.(John 3:16) 5. Faith – We accept this gift by faith. • Saving faith is not just agreeing with the facts or trusting him for other things nor is it a blind leap in the dark. • Saving faith is trusting Christ alone to forgive our sins and give us eternal life.
