Introduction: Last week we looked at how to share the Gospel in a clear and understandable way to people you might encounter. This week (and likely next week) we will look at how we get to the Gospel. • What’s 1 Pt 3:15 and 2 Cor 5:17-19 say about who should be sharing? • What mindset or attitude should we have when sharing the Gospel? • It is one beggar telling another beggar where to get food."- D.T Niles • Our goal is to get to the not argue over other things. • Like a doctor examining a patient, two questions will allow us to their situation. Diagnostic Question #1 - Have you come to the place in your life where you are you will go to Heaven when die? • Yes, you can know. 1 John 5 13 These things I have written to you … that you may know that you have eternal life… Diagnostic Question #2 - If you stood before God today and He asked you, “ should I let you into my Heaven”, What would you say? Four Possibilities: They believe they’re going to heaven b/c they’re trusting in Jesus. They believe they’re going to heaven because of good works or something other than Jesus. They’re uncertain about Heaven but hoping they’re good enough. They're uncertain about Heaven but trusting in Jesus. How We Can Assess & Respond to Each of These: The person is a has assurance of salvation. Praise God, greet them as a brother or sister in Christ and maybe even share the Gospel any way. You might say, “Hey, can I share with you what I have been studying? I am really trying to get better at this and that would be a big help.” The person believes they are going to heaven because they are enough. This person needs to hear the gospel of grace. You might say, “I also believe I am going to heaven. Can I share with you how I came to know that? The person is and they know it and they don’t know the way through faith in Jesus. You might say, there was a time in my life where I did not know for certain but now, I do. Could I share with you what I learned so that you can know too? The person is trusting in Christ but does not have full of His saving power. They need assurance. You might say, “There was a time in my life where I did not know for certain but now, I do. Could I share with you how I have this assurance so that you can too?” “Oh, my brothers and sisters in Christ, if sinners will be damned, at least let them leap to hell over our bodies; and if they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees, imploring them to stay, and not madly to destroy themselves. If hell must be filled, at least let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go there unwarned and unprayed for.” -Spurgeon
