Stand Alone

By Rick Morris, November 27, 2022

4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! 5 Let your gentle spirit be known to everyone. The Lord is near.6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer andsupplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:4-7

The peace of God: The deep-seated sense of assurance that comes from truly believing God loves you personally, that He is able to meet your needs and that He will, both now and forever.

• Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. (John 14:1)

• Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. (John 14:27)

1. Rejoice

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! (Phil. 4:4)

2. Grateful prayer

6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:6-7)

3. Dwell on the things of God

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. (Phil. 4:8)

4. Practice

The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. (Phil. 4:9)

▪ Maintain a joyful heart

▪ Replace anxiety with regular, thankful prayer

▪ Proactively focus your mind on God and His priorities

▪ Watch those whose lives display these things and follow their example
