Song of Songs 3:1-5 (NIV) All night long on my bed I looked for the one my heart loves; I looked for him but did not find him. 2 I will get up now and go about the city, through its streets and squares; I will search for the one my heart loves. So I looked for him but did not find him. 3 The watchmen found me as they made their rounds in the city. “Have you seen the one my heart loves?” 4 Scarcely had I passed them when I found the one my heart loves. I held him and would not let him go till I had brought him to my mother’s house, to the room of the one who conceived me. 5 Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you by the gazelles and by the does of the field: Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires.


1 John 5:2-3 (NIV) This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. 3 In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome,


Proverbs 6:27-28 (NIV) Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes being burned 28 Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched?


How do we learn to operate within God’s design for sex?

Why resist a temptation tomorrow that you can eliminate today?

Job 28:28 (NIV) And he said to the human race, “The fear of the Lord—that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.”


1 Peter 1:15-16 (NIV) But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”


Ephesians 5:3 (NIV) But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.


What if we have already fallen short of God’s design?


1 John 1:8-9 (NIV) If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.


1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NIV) Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
