The Love of God

For the Love of God

By Lee Renfro, March 31, 2024

Is God for me?

Romans 8:31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Romans 8:32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?

How does God see me?

Romans 8:33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.

Romans 8:34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.

Jesus died

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,

Jesus resurrected

Luke 24:6-7 He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, 7 that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.”

What can separate me from God?

Romans 8:35-36 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”

Don’t let your fears and feelings determine your faith.

Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

Romans 8:38-39 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I am sure of God’s love for me because Jesus died and rose for me.

Me and You, a new series on relationships beginning next week. Throughout the series we’ll look at friendships, singleness, marriage, parenting, and more as we discover why we need each other.
