“The Lord’s Prayer" : We want to move from having a time of prayer to a life of prayer. This prayer teaches us to focus on forgiveness. Matthew 6:12a “and forgive us our debts” Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. “The Gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes” This prayer reminds us that we all need forgiveness. Matthew 6:12a “and forgive us our debts” Luke 5:17-20 On one of those days, as he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there, who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with him to heal. 18 And behold, some men were bringing on a bed a man who was paralyzed, and they were seeking to bring him in and lay him before Jesus, 19 but finding no way to bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down with his bed through the tiles into the midst before Jesus. 20 And when he saw their faith, he said, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.” This prayer encourages us to be conduits of forgiveness. Matthew 6:12b “as we also have forgiven our debtors” Matthew 6:14-15 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, 15 but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
