The Identity of Jesus

Jesus Offers us Peace.

Who is Jesus?

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.

16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.

17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.

19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell,

20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. - Colossians 1:15-20

Who is Jesus?

26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…” - Genesis 1:26

28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” - Genesis 1:28

“For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell,” - Colossians 1:19

Jesus is God.

“...the firstborn of all .”

Firstborn = Prototokos: priority in time and/or supremacy in rank

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” - John 1:1

“Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” - John 1:3

Jesus is Both the Creator and Ruler of All Things

16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.

17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. - Colossians 1:16-17

”Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. - Luke 12:7

“I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.” - Luke 19:40

If all things are made FOR Jesus, have you submitted your life TO Jesus?

Jesus is both and of All Things– Is He Ruler of My Life?

…And he is the head of the body, the church.

12 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.

13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.

14 For the body does not consist of one member but of many. - 1 Corinthians 12:12-14

He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.
