The Necessity of a Perfect Sacrifice

Loves Pure Light

By Paul Priddy, December 24, 2023

13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son,

14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. - Colossians 1:13-14

21 And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, - Colossians 1:21

Paul is reminding us of our ‘natural’ condition so that we’ll understand and be in awe over our saved condition

1. Alienated

2. Hostile in mind

3. Doing Evil Deeds

“but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear. -Isaiah 59:2

Sin Alienates us From God.

7 For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot.

8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. - Romans 8:7-8

21 From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.

22 And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord! This shall never happen to you.”

23 But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.” - Matthew 16:21-23

A mind set on the chooses to prioritize its immediate well-being to a degree that it is willing to disregard, disobey, or reject the command or will of God.

When We Realize the Peril of our Spiritual Situation, We Realize Our Need for a Spiritual Savior.

22 he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, - Colossians 1:22

22 he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, - Colossians 1:22A

27 If anyone of the common people sins unintentionally in doing any one of the things that by the Lord's commandments ought not to be done, and realizes his guilt,

28 or the sin which he has committed is made known to him, he shall bring for his offering a goat, a female without blemish, for his sin which he has committed.

29 And he shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering and kill the sin offering in the place of burnt offering. - Leviticus 4:27-29

4 For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

5 Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he said, “Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired, but a body have you prepared for me;

6 in burnt offerings and sin offerings you have taken no pleasure.

12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, - Hebrews 10:4-6;12

Jesus HAD to be born so that he could be the perfect

The way that we receive forgiveness for our sins is not by physically placing our hand on his head, but by placing our in his sufficiency.
