Detestable

Proverbs 6:16-19 (NIV) There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies, and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.

Haughty Eyes

Pride goes before a fall…

“Pride is the only disease that makes everyone sick but the one who has it.”

  1. PRIDE IS THE IDEA THAT WE ARE BETTER THAN OTHERS.
  1. PRIDE IS THE OLDEST SIN IN THE WORLD.

Isaiah 14:13-15 You said in your heart, “I will ascend to Heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountains. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.”

Genesis 3:5 For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God…

  1. PRIDE WILL DRIVE A WEDGE IN OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD AND WITH OTHERS.

Psalms 10:4 - ”In their pride the wicked do not seek him, in all their thoughts there is no room for God.” (Pride will corrupt our thoughts and motives.)

Proverbs 13:10 - “Where there is strife, there is pride, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.” (Pride will bring contention and will destroy relationships.)

I Peter 5:5 - “God opposes the proud, but shows favor to the humble.” (Pride will take you out of favor.)

PRIDE WILL DRIVE A WEDGE IN OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD AND WITH OTHERS

PRIDE OPENS THE DOOR TO A HOST OF OTHER SINS

Pride is the dandelion of the soul. It’s roots go deep, only a little needs to be left behind and it can sprout again.
